Day trip to the Gorge

On a whim we decided to take Kyle and his girlfriend to the river, Richard and I had just been up there a week earlier and we were both just waiting for an excuse to go back up. The area is beautiful and if you are on the right roads you might be the only one on those roads all day. The river itself is different from what we have in our area, the rocks are huge, the water can get so deep it seems like black holes.

Kyle was searching for the right spot to jump in, we made sure he found the right spot that was plenty deep. They had a ball jumping in together then one at a time. We asked the girlfriend if she wanted to stop and pick up a swimsuit before we headed out and she said she always swims in jeans..so that's what she did.
We got out when a surprise shower came up over the mountain. We got to the jeep and got our stuff loaded back in just before it started pouring, but since we were in the jeep we were getting wet regardless.

we stopped at this overlook to dry things off a little and put on warmer clothes. We stopped and got a bite to eat at a small country cooking place, we just love those and the food was great.
On the way home it got cold and poured the last 45 minutes home, the kids were drenched. We had the heat on but with no doors it didn't do much. Needless to say we had a great day regardless of how unprepared we were for rain.

Edisto Beach Day 3

This is a view of the house from the street. We walked along the beach for some ways with mom, dad, Chad, Casey, Richard and I. Kyle and Billy went riding bikes again to the arcade. Everyone came in late last night right after the guys got back from shrimping about 11:30pm.

Dad went out with the Richard and Billy to check on the crab traps. Richard and Billy have to work tomorrow so they are heading back this afternoon.
I took everyone else for a ride around the island, we stopped at a farm and bought some cookies and bananas for a dessert I had planned on making. We found a few interesting stores to stop at.
Richard and the guys came back with about 35 crabs. He cooked them and mom and I cleaned them after they left. We had ham loaf for dinner, which turned out pretty good I thought.
Larry had called mom earlier and was having problems with his car. He had it towed back to his house, but needs to get down to GA as he will have to be to work by Monday. So mom decided it was best to leave now and head home tonight. So at 9:30 they left. Kyle and I hung out and watched Halloween movies.

Edisto Beach Day 2

We went out to the beach for a little bit today.

Kyle and Billy were trying to catch us on there bikes. We drove to visit a friend of Richards who was staying in the State Park. While we were there Kyle and Billy showed up. They must have had to ride bikes five miles. They were beat and it was starting to rain. They made it back to the game room before getting too wet.
Of course it seems like we are not up very long before they are off to shrimp again and I am once again on my own. Tonight I read a book, wrote in my journal and watched a movie I had brought.

Edisto Beach Day 1

This is the house we rented for the week in Edisto is the the Edho II ( I didn't name it, I just rented it)

We had plenty of room for everyone, we are expecting mom, dad, chad and casey this weekend. Till then Kyle and Billy both get nice big beds. Richard enjoyed this bed with the canopy, he thought it was to hang his night clothes on.

Water Fun at Pawley's

We went down to Georgetown for a few days to visit Richard's parents. While down there we took the kids to the beach a few days. Kyle wanted to surf and Casey said she would try too, so we brought the boards down. Richard even wanted to get in with Kyle. I am not a fan of salt water and sand in my shorts, so I just walk the beach enjoying the kids having fun and taking pictures.

Can you see the spot in this picture, it's Casey watching for waves. I forgot my camera at home, so these are all from my cell phone and the zoom would not cooperate with me.

This dot is Kyle waiting on the board.

here's Kyle on the skim board, that's always fun to watch.

Everyone carring boards back to the truck, they were beat and hungry.

The purple skies where amazing.

Mt Pleasant Kayak Paddle

After Kyle's summer camp, they invited the kids back to take the paddle they were unable to take due to rain during the camp week. So Kyle and I drove down to Mt. Pleasant, he and Anita and one other boy from camp paddled out to the island with there camp counselor and some others he invited to the paddle. They all had a good time, Kyle did forget to apply sunscreen, so he was a little pink, but he never complained. After the paddle we went back to Anita's for a visit and then our three hour drive home. It was a very long day, but I am glad he was able to go.

Boat Tour, Edisto Island

Today we took a boat tour and saw some of the same homes we saw on the carriage ride, but this time from the water. We also stopped to watched many dolphin and even got a few shots, they were fun to watch.

These are beautiful houses with great water views.

This is the bridge that leads from Beaufort to Lady Lake, It turns for boats, we never got to see it though.

These were boats at dock on lady lake, we could see them on the boat ride we took, i love to see all the poles in the air.

This is the pontoon we rode on, It was not too crowded today, and with a breeze it was a nice ride even thought the temp was over 100

Love the picture of these shrimp boats in the sunset.

We drove around just to sightsee, these creeks that run through the marsh are such a nice picture.

We stopped at this post office as we were aproaching edisto island. it's a quaint tiny one.

We saw turtle nesting sites, looks like some eggs have already been laid.

They have areas posted to keep people out for the turtles.

It was a very hot day at the beach, not too many people where there when we stopped, this is the only time we where able to get to Edisto.
These boats where docked at the Beaufort dock, and this pic is from the road as it curves around the water.
