Accidents Happen

 We went to my parents today to help them cut up some more trees that had fallen down in the storm. Kyle jumped off the tractor and must have twisted his ankle, by time I got inside, it was all purple

at the same time Adam had a run in with the chainsaw, Casey rushed him to the hospital. although she had no idea where it was, she had to call Richard, who met her and led her to the hospital. Richard was able to get Adam right in and stitched up, he was back home in no time.

Annual cat fishing trip

The guys are back from their annual cat fishing trip, where they go spend a week on an island with no running water (this means time as they walk in the door everyone wants to give me a big hug) in a tent, eating lots of deep fried food ( i hear even the hotdogs are deep fried) Here are the pics the guys came back with, looks like they only took some on this one day. It was very foggy early in the morning. They did well, came home with a cooler full of catfish. They had a great time. I think it really helped for Kyle to take a friend along. He really enjoyed it and helped Kyle see that it is a good time, not a chore to go.

In this pic before the treeline starts is a gator, so they tell me. Adam (Kyle's friend) was surprised to see so many of them during the week.

For the first time, they had a total of four boys there all around the same age. Richard said they all got along fine.

Adam was daring Kyle to eat one of the hotdogs (the bait) off the line. I don't think he actually did though.

The boys did alot of goofing off and just having a good time being boys. They will be able to talk of the fun they had for years to come, this will be the good ole days for them.

Chad's graduation party

We had a graduation party for Chad at Landsford Canal state park. We had friends and family join us. We are very proud of Chad, he graduated earlier this year, but this was our first chance to get together to Celebrate.
He is our first to graduate from our homeschool, we are very proud, he has become a good man.

It was a good time hanging out with everyone. We don't get much chance to hang out with our family and friends, expecially now with all the work we are doing on our land, so It was a nice treat. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

Trip to TN to work on Don's Cobra

We left out early as possible this morning to TN to help a fellow work on his Cobra. We had been trying to get out there for a while, but things kept comming up, like the parts hadn't come in or Richard got stuck working the day they were planning some work on the car.

Since we were only going on a quick trip we took the interstate, luckily it still allows for some beautiful views, like the fog falling on the mountains and the water comming off the rocks like a waterfall. Plus it's always fun driving through the tunnel.

Since we drove in the night before we got to Don's bright and early to help with the brakes. I think seven guys in all showed up today. They got the brakes mostly completed. The car will be ready to go soon and Don and his wife will be able to enjoy it. It was nice getting to meet some more Cobra friends. Everyone we've met so far have been super nice.

After leaving Don's I wanted to go buy a local cheese farm. So I punched in the address into the GPS and we started following the directions she was giving us. We ended up on this dirt road with ruts, potholes and craters in it. At some spots Richard had to get out and check out clearance before continuing on. Needless to say, we got to the cheese farm as they were closing, and we will be leaving the area, so I will not get to see the farm.

2009 Mitty Road Atlanta

On the way to Road Atlanta we ran by The Iron Pig about lunch time so we decided to stop. It was crowded with local farm workers having lunch. We had all this great food for such a good price. The service was even good to us. The bbq sauce was a little tomato and a little vinegar, but not too much of vinegar to be bad. I like mine tomato based and sweet.

Here are the Cobra's all lined up on Saturday morning. We parked and then walked around to see what else was there. We were able to see alot of interesting cars, all the cars that raced were in the middle and we were able to stop and look at all of them, and even talk to a few drivers or pit workers.

These are cars that drove on the parade and touring laps. We didn't go this time, but we enjoyed it last year. It's neat to drive your own car on such a diverse race track.

Trip to Georgia

My sister-in-law and I went on a trip to GA for a bread making class. On the way down we drove by this darling store and had to turn around and check it out. Tons of great primitive items and a wonderful owner who was very nice to talk with.

We decided to stay at the Amicalola Falls State Park. We rented one of there cute cabins. It had everything, full kitchen, two bedrooms, this great fire ring with plenty of seating and all along this beautiful creek.

The class was great and we got all the tips we needed to make some wonderful bread. I will post some pictures when I get a chance to actually make some.

We had to check in at the lodge at the top of the falls, so we walked to the falls top lookout and took this shot, it's a beautiful place, the sound of rushing water is so soothing. It was kinda a chilly day on top of the falls, you could even feel the spray as the water rushed downward.

Here is a pic of the lodge from the bottom of the falls where our cabin was. we walked along this beautiful creek to get the the overlook at the bottom of the falls. We ran into a man on the trails and he told us there are five cars in the park from the moonshine days, here is one below the steps we had to climb.

Here's a picture from the bottom overlook up to the top of the falls, it really is about halfway up but is called the bottom overlook.
