Heading Home

on the way home, we saw a sign for a covered bridge, we thought it would be a nice detour. It probably took us an hour to find the bridge, it was way off the main road. So by time we got there we were hungry and we had a nice little break, with lunch and a walk in the creek, while we were there.

Festival Park

We stopped at Festival Park in Manteo on the way home. http://www.roanokeisland.com/

On the boat, the boys learned to tie sailors knots, swab the deck, raise the anchor

The village was great, very hands on. The boys made nails, used a lathe to carve a table leg.

Everyone can get involved.

The boys were able to try on different clothing, to get the real feel of the past. they duck hunted, became store keepers, civil war soldiers, bathing beauties

Outer Banks

We went to the Outer Banks after going to the Symposium that Richard received free tickets to when he received the honored reward of Medic of the Year.

We took a ferry out to Ocracoke Island http://www.ocracokeisland.com/

We stopped to see the Ocracoke Lighthouse, you can only get so close, it's blocked off. But it is beautiful. Ocracoke was my favorite island, it's quaint.

We watched kite surfers.

We camped right on the beach, big mistake, very windy, we hardly got any sleep.

We played on the beach

We went to the Cape Hatteras Light Station

and museum.

We climbed to the top 150 steps in a spiral, boy I was dizzy when we got to the top. But what a view

We stopped at the Bodie Island Lighthouse, again you can't go up, but we could get pretty close.

The beaches were great, no one else on them.

Family Kingdom

We went to a little amusement park in Myrtle Beach with some friends.

The older boys and all the guys rode go-carts. Once they got around back and no one could see them they would knock each other, spin each other out. Boys will be boys
