Kyle's Shooting Event

Kyle shot in his first official event today. He did a five stand, the entire course and the wobble. We had a nice lunch and got to meet some nice guys. He is really enjoying shooting, so we signed him up for the youth team. Today Kyle won the youth shoot, he won a mug and a decoy dove. he was very excited about his prize.

Kyle shot a white bird on the wobble which moved him to the final shootout. He did as good as any man he shot against, even though he was not in the final two.

This is Kyle getting his award, shaking hands with Rog.

day trip to the mountains

Today we took a ride in our Cobra, mom and dad in their vette; Chad and Casey in the Mustang. We rode to Strawberry Hill for homemade ice cream, the best around. Then we rode up to the mountains. We stopped at Pretty Place. it was a nice ride, Richard had to be at work by 6pm so we had to hurry back, I would have loved to spend more time out. The further in the mountains we got the cooler it got, It was a nice change from our exteme heat. I really need the break too, it seems like we have been running ragged for months now.

Granparents? Now?

well, it's now official, we have visual proof that we are going to be grandparents. Chad and Casey are expecting a baby in March. We surely were not expecting this, but we are trying to be positive about it. It's going to be a long journey, we are trying to be supportive and as helpful as we can be. She's hoping for a girl, but I believe boys are easier, or at least quieter. We are working on getting the house done before the little one arrives so we have more room. Check out our progress on our land blog.

Annual cat fishing trip

The guys are back from their annual cat fishing trip, where they go spend a week on an island with no running water (this means time as they walk in the door everyone wants to give me a big hug) in a tent, eating lots of deep fried food ( i hear even the hotdogs are deep fried) Here are the pics the guys came back with, looks like they only took some on this one day. It was very foggy early in the morning. They did well, came home with a cooler full of catfish. They had a great time. I think it really helped for Kyle to take a friend along. He really enjoyed it and helped Kyle see that it is a good time, not a chore to go.

In this pic before the treeline starts is a gator, so they tell me. Adam (Kyle's friend) was surprised to see so many of them during the week.

For the first time, they had a total of four boys there all around the same age. Richard said they all got along fine.
Adam was daring Kyle to eat one of the hotdogs (the bait) off the line. I don't think he actually did though.

The boys did alot of goofing off and just having a good time being boys. They will be able to talk of the fun they had for years to come, this will be the good ole days for them.

Chad's graduation party

We had a graduation party for Chad at Landsford Canal state park. We had friends and family join us. We are very proud of Chad, he graduated earlier this year, but this was our first chance to get together to Celebrate.
He is our first to graduate from our homeschool, we are very proud, he has become a good man.

It was a good time hanging out with everyone. We don't get much chance to hang out with our family and friends, expecially now with all the work we are doing on our land, so It was a nice treat. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
