Edisto Beach Day 3

This is a view of the house from the street. We walked along the beach for some ways with mom, dad, Chad, Casey, Richard and I. Kyle and Billy went riding bikes again to the arcade. Everyone came in late last night right after the guys got back from shrimping about 11:30pm.

Dad went out with the Richard and Billy to check on the crab traps. Richard and Billy have to work tomorrow so they are heading back this afternoon.
I took everyone else for a ride around the island, we stopped at a farm and bought some cookies and bananas for a dessert I had planned on making. We found a few interesting stores to stop at.
Richard and the guys came back with about 35 crabs. He cooked them and mom and I cleaned them after they left. We had ham loaf for dinner, which turned out pretty good I thought.
Larry had called mom earlier and was having problems with his car. He had it towed back to his house, but needs to get down to GA as he will have to be to work by Monday. So mom decided it was best to leave now and head home tonight. So at 9:30 they left. Kyle and I hung out and watched Halloween movies.

Edisto Beach Day 2

We went out to the beach for a little bit today.

Kyle and Billy were trying to catch us on there bikes. We drove to visit a friend of Richards who was staying in the State Park. While we were there Kyle and Billy showed up. They must have had to ride bikes five miles. They were beat and it was starting to rain. They made it back to the game room before getting too wet.
Of course it seems like we are not up very long before they are off to shrimp again and I am once again on my own. Tonight I read a book, wrote in my journal and watched a movie I had brought.

Edisto Beach Day 1

This is the house we rented for the week in Edisto is the the Edho II ( I didn't name it, I just rented it)

We had plenty of room for everyone, we are expecting mom, dad, chad and casey this weekend. Till then Kyle and Billy both get nice big beds. Richard enjoyed this bed with the canopy, he thought it was to hang his night clothes on.

Casey 19 weeks

On her last sonogram we found out Casey and Chad are having a boy. The boy name they had picked out is Cayden, so here is baby Cayden at 19 weeks in mom's belly. At this sonogram they found a mark on his heart and the dr had Casey go to Charlotte for a more detailed sonogram. They said everything seemed fine, we are all relieved and looking forward to his arrival.

Anniversary Trip Day Five

This is our last day, heading home. We stopped at the Blue Ridge Music Center again. Today there was a Father and Son-in-law duo playing. They were good, but not with the character of Bill and Maggie from yesterday. We stayed for a while, waiting for the rain to stop.

It was still very foggy by lunch time, here's a picture of Richard all bundled up, does he look warm? i think he was other than the water that dripped on his leg and then got cold from the wind blowing in.

Here are my last few pics on the Blue Ridge, we drove it down just a little and then took a different route hoping the weather would clear up.

Anniversary Trip Day Four

Today started out foggy again and drizzly, we drove down the Blue Ridge and found a music venue. We stopped and listened to the couple playing today and just fell in love with them. They are so peaceful to listen too and such genuine wonderful people. http://vintageacoustic.cc/ you can meet them here. I was so disappointed that all we had was a debit card and they could only take cash. I need to order there CD time as I get home.
We ended up staying and listening to them for about four hours, till they packed up for the day. Of course it was raining outside the whole time, but we really enjoyed them.

Richard was trying to get me to take a picture of his breathe, but it would not show up and he got to laughing after making some funny faces.

We had to slow down for this family of wild turkeys, I guess it is still far enough from Thanksgiving that they can feel safe walking out in the open.

We went to Galax and had dinner at a steak buffet and stopped at the Goodwill across the street, we bought heavy jackets and sweaters to keep us warm. It was so cold I tried to get a shot of the temp sign, but it was blurry, it read 38
Driving back to the cabin it was dark, rainy and very very foggy. Problem was it was still early enough to be light out. since we have no heat, defrost or wipers we had very limited visibility and could only drive about 20 mph. We could see the yellow line on the road about 10 feet in front of us, but that was it, it was a long, cold, wet ride home. These tops are said to keep you less wet, not for keeping you dry.

Anniversary Trip Day Three

Today looked like it was gonna be a nice day, still very cold, but no rain in sight. We drove back roads around the Blue Ridge. We saw some beautiful land for sale. I can only imagine how hard it is to get to anywhere from there though. Not that I would pass up living in such a place.

We drove above Roanoke to the Dixie Caverns. Our guide was a young teenage boy and there was only one other couple besides us, so I cannot say it was our favorite Cavern, but it was still good, we enjoy things like that.

On the way home we stopped to get me a pair of sneakers since I brought my sandles and a pair of boots that just didnt' keep any cold off my poor feet. We stopped in Hillsville and ate at the Hardware Restaraunt. We had stopped here twice last year on our anniversary trip and we really like it, so here we are again. It was so cold driving back to the cabin every night, we were thankful to get in and turn on the fireplace and draw water in the jacuzzi.

Anniversary Trip Day two

There was a even smaller cabin (I think it was actually a tool shed) on the other side of the pond at the cabin. We were invited to use the pond to fish, but the weather never allowed that.

this is what we woke up to. The temperature had really dropped and Bob(the cabin owner) said the week was supposed to be cold. Since Richard had been in Edisto and the weather was in the 90s just two days ago it was gonna be bad.

Although the day was foggy and drizzly, it does make for some good pictures.

We stopped at a outlook and this was the view of the Cobra from the top. It started getting drizzly so we decided to put the top up.

Here's the view of the tower from the car, it is cold today, real cold. We were so not prepared for this, I was expecting a warm week, I did not bring winter clothes.
We stopped at Mayberry General Store to by there beloved fried apple pies. I bought a sweatshirt to help me keep warm. When we walked outside it was rainy, so we stood under the porch and drank our sodas and ate our fried apple pies. We talked with three or so people as they came and went. Then we decided to make a run for it and get in the car, since we have to take the tonue cover off, we get wet getting in, the cover was a little wet itself, which just adds more water to the inside of the car.
We drove by Maybry Mill, but since it was still raining and it seemed to be pretty crowded inside, we just drove thru the parking lot and kept going.
I just love this plow field, I was able to get alot of good shots on this trip, but I also missed a good bit as well.
By mid afternoon, we still ran into fog and drizzle.
On the overlooks, we could see the fog covering the towns below, it was like being above the clouds.
See the temp sign, 48 is COLD when it was just in the upper 80s. Also notice there is no window here, that's right, no windows in the car, also no heat, so we are cold.
We went out for dinner and came in again for an early night. withe the fog being so heavy we hated to stay out too late. The car also having no defrost of wipers it could get dangerous driving in this weather. I would have liked to see more, but we went back to the cabin early everynight. One good thing, Richard installed the seat heaters before we left, so we could turn them on and warm our buns. I even took my shoes off and sat on my feet to warm them up.
