short trip to the mountains

we went to the mountains on my birthday. we took a neighbor boy with us, kyle's friend, kevin. we stopped at Jones Gap State Park. it was beautiful. too bad my battery went dead on my camera and these are the only shots we got that day.

we also stopped by a place called "pretty place" it's like a outside church. the view from the pews looks over the mountain side and it is wonderful. We stopped at Ceasar's head state park also.
On the way home we stopped and ate at Applebees. it was pretty good, my brother called to wish me a happy birthday.

Mom and Dad took me to dinner tonight for my birthday. Sheila and Reg came along. Richard was working and the boys were all at a friends. We went to Ruby Tuesdays and I ordered the Chicken Parmesain Pasta, my favorite dish.
We had a nice visit, I don't get adult conversation much.
On Sunday we went to my mom and dad's like we do most Sundays. Mom made lasagna for dinner and a chocolate/chocolate cake for my birthday. Sheila stopped by and had dinner with us. She brought me a couple of vases that Reggie had turned out of wood. They are beautiful. I love getting handmade gifts.
Mom gave me a green/blue quilted purse, the ones that are in style right now. It's very cute.

Red 03/2003-07/2007

Our beloved dog, Red passed away at 8am this morning. We are not sure of the cause of death. We will miss her and not forget about her. We buried her out on our land, in a place we will now call Red Valley.

we found out about this light house in the town of Cheasapeake City and desided to drive out and take a look at it. Well, when we get here, we see a trail, with no info as to weather there is or isn't a light house at the end of it. So, we go down this trail, of at least a mile and to our happy surprise, we find this beautiful lighthouse. Even the walk to the lighthouse was wonderful, it was warm, but not blistering hot.

We had dinner with friends, Will and Suz at a local Italian restaurant. It was nice visiting friends we hadn't seen in a few years.

We stopped in this quaint little town of Chesapeake City, they had little shops in the lovely houses. We stopped for ice cream right on the bay.

This is the museum, there used to be locks here and a large lighthouse, which is now replaced by just a model of it.

Amish Country

We took a buggy ride today, we drove my numerous amish farms, this lady was mowing her yard. I like how the amish go around bearfoot when it's warm. Too bad we couldn't get away with that.

The amish farms are just beautiful, every part of the yard is used for gardening, weather it's veggies, fruits or flowers
Here we are stopped at a local amish farm. They had qulits, and other handmade items. I bought some potholders and coasters. They had homemade whoopie pies that we tried.

Here's a charming family, the children are all out at the road playing.

we bought homemade root beer at this farm house.

this is our campsite, and the view from our campsite. we watched amish buggies go by all day and night long. It was very neat to see.
