Day trip to the Gorge

On a whim we decided to take Kyle and his girlfriend to the river, Richard and I had just been up there a week earlier and we were both just waiting for an excuse to go back up. The area is beautiful and if you are on the right roads you might be the only one on those roads all day. The river itself is different from what we have in our area, the rocks are huge, the water can get so deep it seems like black holes.

Kyle was searching for the right spot to jump in, we made sure he found the right spot that was plenty deep. They had a ball jumping in together then one at a time. We asked the girlfriend if she wanted to stop and pick up a swimsuit before we headed out and she said she always swims in jeans..so that's what she did.
We got out when a surprise shower came up over the mountain. We got to the jeep and got our stuff loaded back in just before it started pouring, but since we were in the jeep we were getting wet regardless.

we stopped at this overlook to dry things off a little and put on warmer clothes. We stopped and got a bite to eat at a small country cooking place, we just love those and the food was great.
On the way home it got cold and poured the last 45 minutes home, the kids were drenched. We had the heat on but with no doors it didn't do much. Needless to say we had a great day regardless of how unprepared we were for rain.

Snow Tubing

Richard had an idea to drive up to the mountains today and see if we could find some snow. I had been wanting to go to the Mast General Store so I agreed. Then we thought it would be fun to take the kids snow tubing. Kyle called a couple of friends and we headed out.
We found snow, the roads were pretty good and only two hours from home did we run into lots of snow.

Here is the crowd snow tubing. We had to wait for the 6pm session.

The kids were all bundled up and ready to go.
The sun setting over the snow covered mountain was nice to watch. The kids were having fun before they even got on the snow.
before the next session the plow ran over the lanes a few times, it was getting dark before the kids were able to get out on the snow and the pics were all too dark to tell who is in them.
Everyone had a great time, we stopped to eat on the way home and got back before midnight. All in all it was a good day trip. The boys had a good time goofing off at dinner.

day trip to the mountains

Today we took a ride in our Cobra, mom and dad in their vette; Chad and Casey in the Mustang. We rode to Strawberry Hill for homemade ice cream, the best around. Then we rode up to the mountains. We stopped at Pretty Place. it was a nice ride, Richard had to be at work by 6pm so we had to hurry back, I would have loved to spend more time out. The further in the mountains we got the cooler it got, It was a nice change from our exteme heat. I really need the break too, it seems like we have been running ragged for months now.

Cobra get together at Kings Mountain

We had a Cobra get together today at Kings Mountain State Park. We had a good turn out, more than we had thought would show. It was good talking with all our old friends and even meeting a few new ones.

We all brought lunch and had a nice picnic together. We brought the kids with us since we were meeting my family and grandmother after we left.
More wifes than usual showed up, it was a really nice time, the day was not too warm, and the park was not awful crowded.

Outing in Cobra

Richard and I went for a little ride in the Cobra today, while driving we got beside this truck, I thought it was wild how tall the truck was to our car, and had to take this picture.

B&B in GA

This is the B&B that we stayed at on the way to Road Atlanta. It's near Clemson College and not too far from the house, so we have plenty of time to get to the race track in the morning and stop and look at sites on the way.

We had a full country breakfast with french toast, bacon, coffee, oj milk. It was a great breakfast that filled us up till lunch time and the host stopped to talk to us. He is a real country gentleman, it was a great visit.

the Blacksmith shop that you can rent and stay in. I could not see in it, but the pictures online they looked really cute, but I wanted the whole b&b experience.

Car Show

We went to a car show this weekend. There were tons of cars, a bunch of cobras and a wide variety of vehicles. It was a first for us, you usually see classic cars, but this one had a little something for everyone. I only got a few pics of anything other than a cobra before my camera battery went dead.

This copper Cobra is Alan's. He and his father did the paint scheme on the car as well as designed and made all the chrome pieces you can see and some that you cannot see.

This one is a friends nearby, he drove it 50 miles with no body. Luckily it was not an extremely cold day. His body is being painted right now. But he said the car ran fine.
