Fishing

Richard took the boys fishing at a large spot in the river that goes through a little town near our land.

He was told about this secret spot by some people he works with

It's beautiful out here, not a house on this part of the river. It's owned by the power company.

Renaissance Festival

we took the boys to the Renaissance Festival today. There was so much to see and so little time. We went on a student day. I don't know why I didn't realize that meant we would be there with 100 school buses full of children without parents. But we survived and learned out lesson.

This is the jousting, the good guys won, of course.

We watched gypsies dance, tightrope walker, a bird of prey trainer.

Kyle was able to go on this trapeze thing. He was jumping into the air, doing flips, he loved it.

Richard's Bridge

We went to Georgetown to help Richard Sr work on his bridge. The guys got it all done except the top few boards. Stevie will finish those when he gets a chance. The bridge was accidentally burnt down and is the only way to the island so it needed to be rebuilt.

Here is a side view of the bridge crossing the creek. The creek runs into the inter-coastal waterway about 10 miles from the ocean. There is a dock that goes out to a gazebo from the island. The boys like to jump in and swim from there.

The boys took a golf class in the

fall. Kyle just loves it. Cory has decided it's not really his thing.

PTG Gathering

We had a Gathering for the Palmetto Teen Group and there families. The kids bobbed for apples and played football.

They rode on a hayride around the property.

They worked up a good appetite playing football.

Later we had a bonfire, roasted marshmallows, sang songs and did skits.

Ice Skating

This was the boys first time on ice skates. They all did well, cautious at first, but doing good.

This was their first outing with a new friend, Emery, she became part of the group instantly.

Now they go ice skating every week.

Anniversary Trip

Richard took me on a surprise anniversary trip this year. We went to Murphy, NC. It was beautiful. The trees were just starting to turn colors.

We drove on the route known as the "Tail of the Dragon" it has 311 curves in 11 miles. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/

This is the Nantahala Dam, the water was crystal clear.

We stopped at this museum and fort. It was neat, and the weather was great.

Some more spots we stopped at.

This is an adobe oven, I'd like to build one on our land. It's great for breads, pizzas.

The Four Wheel Trail

We first went out and started cutting a four wheel
trail around two sides of the property. Pictured
here to the left side of the picture. Picture was taken April 4th 2006, date on camera was set wrong.

April 4, 2006 We cut down 30 trees today. I left early with Chad and Cory to take them to a finance class they started taking. Richard and Kyle stayed for another hour or so.
April 6, 2006 Richard cutting trees. We had no equipment to move the logs, so we just cut limbs and drug them out the an opening at the end of the driveway. For the first time we spotted two yellow butterflies. Before we started clearing any of the land, we hadn't heard or seen any wildlife. We had seen some rutting marks, left by deer or wild hogs.
