We purchased a piece of property in May 2004. It was part of a sugarcane plantation with 1500 acres. It was all divided out to the children when the parents passed away. We purchased a 25 acre piece that is land-locked. Our land starts 750ft off the main road.
There is a cabin on the property that has been said to be a slave cabin. It's a lovely little place and we'd like to restore it, but it's in pretty bad shape.
Our goal is to build our own home on this land. We will be using a method called butt and pass that we learned from Skip in Washington state. http://www.loghomebuilders.org We'd like to have animals, an orchard and just peace and quiet. This is our journey.
