On the way home we stopped in Mt Aire, NC. The town the Andy Griffith show was based on. We ate at the dinner and the people were so friendly.

New Market, VA

We had left New York and were now headed home.

We decided to take route 9 off the interstate and see where it took us. We ended up in New Market, VA

The Roads were beautiful

We had to visit all the covered bridges we had time for. The date on this one says 1804. Most of these bridges didn't last throughout the civil war or had to be rebuilt. Most were burnt so the enemy couldn't use them to cross the rivers.

This cute little windmill was at the front of the campground we decided to stay at that night.

Family Reunion

This is our family reunion. It includes family from the Crandall's, Stanley's, and Courtney's.
The guys all decided to play football

This is my dad's mom at the head of the table. Gramma Crandall.

This house belonged to my Gramma and Grampa Courtney, Gramma Crandall's parents. There grandson, Ronny and his wife Reese now live in it. I think that's wonderful to keep a home in the family.

Visiting Aunt Sue & Uncle Bill

The Gang

Douglas, Chad, Geoff, Cory, Zack, Kyle

Uncle George and Jennette's Cabin

We went to visit Uncle George and Aunt Jennette at their cabin on the lake. The boys went fishing, paddled a canoe, went out in a paddle boat and went swimming.

It was a beautiful lake. Uncle George took Mom, Richard and I out on his boat.
It was the first time I had visited them since I was a teen. It was nice visiting adult relatives as an adult.

Cherry Pickin'

We went Cherry Pickin' with gramma and grampa Crandall. I bought 10lbs and by time we left they were all gone, because the boys would sit in the back and eat them all.

Dutch Country

This building says 'First Built in 1867'

I love these big old farm houses.

This is the general store at the campground. They have a live band on weekend evenings.

This was the view from our campsite. The crops were beautiful.

This is mom and dad's first year camping, they did very well. They even want to try it again.

We stopped in Pennsylvania on our way up to New York to visit family. We stayed Saturday and Sunday, which if you've ever been to Amish country is not the best time to go. They are not around on Sundays, that is there day of worship and day of visiting.

We camped at White Oak Campground in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Our sites were right on the edge of a field, we could look out and watch the Amish go by in there buggies.

Here are some covered bridges we stopped to see, they are so lovely. We don't have any near us, they bring back days of simple charm.

We stopped and visited this Amish Museum, it had a complete farm set up to show you an older Amish home.
