water pumps, jerky and carpet

After months of checking and adding water to the yellow Suburban we finally bought a water pump for it. Cory and Chad installed it yesterday but it was still leaking so today they had to take everything back off and see what was causing the leak.
Chad took the black carpet out of the orange Mustang. He had to vacuum it before putting it in the blue Mustang. It still had glass pieces all over it from the accident. It was not glass from Chad's car but from the other car, that's how hard they hit.
Chad got the carpet in the car, then the dash, now it's time to hook up all those plugs and wires, the fun part.
Getting ready for the shrimping trip, Richard has been working on his boat when he has a chance, adding lights and a deck to throw the net from. I thought it would be good for them to have some homemade snacks to take along so I am marinating some meat that we will put in the dehydrator and make jerky out of. They love jerky.
Kyle had a flat tire on his bike coming home from a ride last night, so he found a new tire today and replaced it.
Cory was working on his instrument cluster, getting the fuel gauge to work correctly.

I made this rabbit hutch last year, as you can see it has weathered as I never got to sealing it when it was finished. So today Kyle treated it for me so it won't rot away. I am hoping to get some rabbits to fill it back up, but I need to put a wire bottom on it first, as this is what happened to the last rabbits. We believe the fox got to them, but one must have gotten away since we've seen it running around with the wild bunnies. I had read not to catch rabbits that have gotten loose, so we've just let him go. Not sure if it is a disease thing or what, but I imagine he is happy to be wild.

Water pumps, interior, strawbale houses

Chad put in the rear quarter panels and back seat along with the headliner. The blue Mustang had blue interior which is almost as bad as red interior. So he decided to stay with the black interior from the orange Mustang.
The Mustangs are prone to get heat from around the transmission tunnel, mine sure does. So Chad insulated the tunnel before putting carpet in.
I asked him to put some insulation in mine but he said he didn't want to take out all the seats and carpet. Man can't a girl get anything around here.
Chad and Richard talking over the car, all we talk about in this house is car, motor, 4 wheeler. Basically anything with wheels or a motor is grounds for conversation around here. There is so much testosterone in this house sometimes I feel so outnumbered.
Richard and I were able to met with a local woman that built her own strawbale home. We had some questions on how she did certain things. It was a nice visit, her home is so warm and welcoming. We learnt alot from her and she made it sound easy. After 10 years in her strawbale home she was able to tell us what she would do differently, but she still loves the feel of her home and I can see why. So now we have inspiration again. Richard and Kyle are going on a shrimping trip in week so after they return we will be hard at work on the house once again.

Walker Payne

The movie has finally arrived. We watched the movie Walker Payne that our dog, Red (rest in peace) starred in. Look back to see pics of Red. This pic on the top is the day after we brought her home. The pic on the bottom is from the website of the movie showing the fake blood applied. She was in the final fight scene of the movie, it was good and sad to see her alive and in action again. We knew the fight scenes where just staged play scenes and she did a great job.
Another neat thing about the movie is, it was filmed in the town our land is in. The town was made to look like an older town, it was neat seeing what the town might have looked like 'back in the day' some of the vehicles we recognized as belonging to friends.
We went to mom and dad's house to make steaks for dinner. We had lots of steak from the grass fed beef we bought at the beginning of summer. We brought the movie so we could all watch it together.

The motor is in

Chad and Cory got the motor put in Chad's blue Mustang tonight. He has made tons of progress but still has a lot of work to do.

Chad painted the valve covers and oil pan bright orange, it's a nice contrast to the blue of the car.

Now he needs to get a fan, battery and radiator.

Projects

I bought these cases at a thrift store last week. I am looking to alter them, but have not decided it I will use fabric, paper, etc.

This one has great pockets inside, I'm excited to make it even prettier. I also picked up this nice blue case, I'm thinking of altering it as well.

This is my first quilt top I've ever made, I still need to put a backing on it, but really do not have the room to lay it out, I do need to finish it. It has stars and stripes with red, blue and cream colors.

New rims all around

Here's Chad's blue Mustang on the ground with all tires on it now, it looks good. Today he pulled the transmission off the motor and replaced the rear main seal, he also painted the valve covers orange. Richard was home today so he and Chad fixed the brake lines on my car and bleed the brakes.

This GT is Cory's he put the five stars that came off of Chad's blue Mustang. These are much better than what he had on here, they might need tires but we will take care of that. Looks like it needs a bath Cory. The red trunk is mine, the boys just changed the rear end to accommodate these wheels that required five lugs. It also had 373 gears in the rear end. The pic of it alone is a pic of the new rims and the one with all the cars are the old rims.

Richard is still driving it back and forth to work. He needs to get an appraisal for his car before we tag and title it and put it back on the road. His is the lime green one in the pic behind Cory's car. He drag raced his car for years and it has many performance parts. Since Chad's accident and the trouble we went through to replace the parts that went into it, we want to make sure this one is insured for the right amount.
We've always joked that if we had a blue mustang we would have a complete skittles pack. With the addition of Chad's blue Mustang our skittles pack is now complete. Of course we could use a yellow Mustang. lol

While walking around the yard taking pics of the cars, I took a shot of the pear tree, fig tree and muscidine grapes. Our pears are usually larger than this year, but they are still enjoyed by everyone that comes in the yard.

Richard's gramma planted the pear and fig trees in the 70's. The grapes were never planted by us, we think they came from uncle Jim's plants next door by the birds. They are actually growing around the smaller fig tree in the back yard, but because they grow so well and the figs are not a favorite we've let them grow that way.

Night work on Chad's car

Chad and Cory looking at the suspension air bags and figuring out how they are installed. Chad was excited to get a sticker with them, since they were new. Everything else he's bought so far didn't come with any. lol
After they installed these they put the tires on and moved it out of the way. Next they took the rear end out of my car and replaced it with better gears and converted it to five lugs so I can put on my new rims. By dark they had that finished and put the Cobra back in the garage, moved the orange car in front of the garage and started to pull the motor out. I was able to help them some with this, making sure they were staying safe. I know I can't help it, it's a mom thing.

Here's the orange Mustang without it's motor. Chad really liked the way it ran, so that's why he decided to put everything from the orange Mustang into the Blue one. He is thinking of making a full blown racer out of the orange Mustang.
The motor is now sitting in the garage, Chad has to take some stuff off it and change out a few things. He plans to have it in the blue Mustang this weekend.

Another day at home

I bought a pretty jar to put my homemade laundry soap in. Richard and Kyle helped me grate the bars of soap that went in it. We've started using it with good results.

Kyle doing some math and Shelby staying close. She's so spoiled
Chad has the rear end painted and ready to put it in the car. He painted it black and took his time getting it just right.
The front wheels are on. Chad is starting to like the blue on this car, he will keep it that color for a while. It does need the windows tinted, but it is a nice car.

Under the hood

Chad welded a plate where the a/c would go in, then he painted it to give it a finished look. He also painted the rear end and the wheel wall. He has been working non stop on his car, he really wants to get it done. Plus they've had time to work on the other cars that have needed work as well.

More work on Cars

Chad removing front suspension to add new K member.

This is Cory's car with the interior back in. He took seats we had out of another car, since his seats had a few rips in them.

Shelby playing in the yard, she was watching the boys 4 wheelin'
